Srinagar, July 27 (UNI) Three militants, including two belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), were killed by the security forces in two different encounters in south Kashmir today.

A defence ministry spokesman said troops of 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at village Woundcukpora, Ratnipora, in south Kashmir district of Pulwama this morning following a tip off that some HM militants were hiding there.

As the troops were sealing the area, militants opened fire. The fire was returned and in the fierce encounter two HM militants Mushtaq Ahmad alias Burhan and Mohammad Shafi alias Burqan were killed.

Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

In another similar operation at Khanmoh in the same district, troops killed another militant, the spokesman said. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

Official sources said the condition of five persons, who were injured in a blast at Baramulla in north Kashmir last night, was stable.
