Three CRPF officials suspended for assaulting journalists

Jalandhar, Jul 27 (UNI) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today suspended three of its officials for assualting journalists here last night.

Additional DIG M S Ahmed in a statement issued here this evening said that SI Naresh Kumar, head constable Raghbir Singh and constable Girish S were suspended with immidiate effect for attacking journalists.

He said that 45th Battalion Commandant RT Paramhans has rushed from Amritsar for further necessary action against guilty officials.

Action would be taken during further investigation against other CRPF officials involved in the incident after identifying them, he added.

A group of CRPF personnels reportedly under the influence of liquor at Football Chowk here last night attacked media persons with lathis. More than 10 media persons were injured and cameras broken during the lathi-charge.
