Text of 123 agreement to be made public soon: Narayanan

New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) National Security Advisor M K Narayanan today said the 123 agreement on India-US nuclear deal fulfils the terms outlined by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Parliament, and will be made public soon.

''The text of the agreement finalised by the two side will be made public soon,'' Mr Narayanan, who led the negotiations in Washington last week, told a crowded press conference here.

He said the agreement was ''good'', but added that in a negotiation there was always some give and take.

Later, Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon read out a joint statement by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and US Seceretary of State Condoleeza Rice on the agreement, which was described as a ''historic milestone''.

''This agreement governs civil nuclear trade between our two countries and open the door for American and Indian firms to participate in each other's civil nuclear cooperation as envisioned by President Bush and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,'' the joint statement said.

''Civil nuclear cooperation between the United States and India will offer enormous strategic and economic benefits to both the countries, including enhanced energy security, a more nvironment-friendly energy source, greater economic opportunities, and more robust non-proliferation efforts,'' it said.
