Students skate to pay homage to Kargil martyrs

Tiruchirapalli, July 27 (UNI) Over 40 kids, including 15 girls, today took out a Skating Rally from Anna Statue to Kargil war hero Major Saravanan memorial, near the Central Bus Stand here, as a mark of respect to the Indian Armymen, who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil war.

The Tiruchirapalli District Roller Skating Sports Association organised the skating rally, in association with the Major Saravanan Trust, on 'Vijay Diwas', being observed on July 26 every year as Kargil Victory Day.

Later, the students paid homage at the memorial of 'Hero of Batalik' 'Vir Chakra' Major Saravanan, who had sacrificed his life during 'Operation Vijay' in 1999, by skating around the memorial and showering flower petals.
