Rs 4.75 cr for development works in Chettinad: FM
Chennai, July 27 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned a sum of Rs 4.75 crore for the development of the ancient region of Chettinad in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu.
Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who represented Sivaganga Lok Sabha constituency, gave this information in a press release here.
He said after the state government requested the Centre to release funds for tourism development in Chettinad area, he took up the matter with Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni.
The implementation of Chettinad ancient town development scheme would help improve the basic facilities in the areas and attract tourists, Mr Chidambaram said.
