Punjab Animal Husbandary to conduct census of animals
Moga, July 27 (UNI) Punjab Animal Husbandary Department has decided to undertake survey/census of animals in the state from September one.
This was stated by Animal Husbandary Deputy Director Sat Pal Sharma while inaugurating Fourth Free Fertility Camp at Rauke village in Moga district yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy director said the entire process would be completed within one month and in this respect the department had issued necessary instructions to complete the survey in a stipulated period.
To conduct the survey, the department had also decided to select unemployed graduates on merit as enumerators, he added.
The deputy director while addressing the farmers, disclosed that the state animal husbandary department has formulated a new programme of providing better veterinary health care to the farmers at their door step.
He said that in every district atleast two veterinary camps would be organised twice a week and vaccinations would be provided to the animals to eradicate Galghotoo and foot and mouth disease.
In the one day Free Fertility Camp 1813 animals were treated and medicines worth Rs 5000 were provided free of cost. Besides ten animals were operated upon with major and minor operations.
