Punjab all set to launch Atta-Dal Scheme from August 15

Chandigarh, July 27 (UNI) The Punjab Government has identified 13,57,522 families as beneficiaries of Atta-Dal scheme, to be launched from August 15.

This was stated here today during a meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, to review the implementation of Atta-Dal scheme.

Mr Badal directed the Food and Supplies department to complete the task of distribution of Blue Ration Cards positively by August 5 in all the districts except Patiala, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Bathinda, where Municipal Corporation elections were being held and the model election code was in force. The distribution of ration cards in these districts would commence the elections.

In the meeting, Food and Supplies Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon informed that the process of the preparation of the Blue Ration cards was nearing completion and these would be distributed well before the launch of the Atta-Dal scheme.

Mr Kairon said the requisite quantity of wheat had been procured in the State Pool by Punsup and Markfed.

In the meeting, Mr Badal directed the officers of the Food and Supplies department to regularly monitor the scheme to ensure its proper implementation, so that no harassment was caused to any beneficiary.
