Karnataka IT circle to mop up over Rs 24,000 crore

Bangalore, July 27: Karnataka and Goa Circle of the Income Tax commissionerate was expecting an IT revenue of over 24,000 crore this year.

Chief Commissioner for IT for Karnataka and Goa, Pramod Kumar, talking to newsmen here said the previous year the circle had shot the target of Rs 19,000 crore by over Rs 1,000 crore and this year also the target, about 19 per cent more than the previous year would be met.

Detailing arrangaements made to facilitate filing of returnes by IT assesses he said the Circle was the third largest collecter of IT after Mumbai and New Delhi He said last year about 329,000 tax payers had filed their returns, and this year the number was expected to cross 375,000.

He said from this year individual assesses could file their returns online and till yesterday such filings numbered 1700.
