Bangalore, Jul 27 (UNI) Karnataka government has withdrawn two circulars issued by the Revenue Department with regard to Jamma land in Kodagu District, Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar announced in the Assembly today.

Making a statement in the House, he said the decision followed a meeting held by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy involving legislators from the District on the issue.

Opposition leader N Dharam Singh and others had raised the issue in the House in the morning and had made a vain bid to attract the attention of the speaker to allow a discussion on the issue.

Subsequently Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had assured the House that a reply would be made by the government in this regard.

Mr Shettar said the circulars dated 31.10.2006 and 16.1.2007 would be withdrawn and a final decision with regard to Jamma lands would be taken after consulting legal experts, legislators from the district and departmental heads.

Mr Singh and others brought to the notice of the government about the imminent withdrawl saying that Kodavas from the district would launch 'Vidhana Soudha' chalo on July 31 in this regard.

Bharatiya Janata Party member from the district K Bopaiah alleged that the Revenue Secretary had issued the circulars without consulting the Revenue Minister and that he should be reprimanded for that action.
