Four militants killed, HM module busted, 20 kg RDX recovered in J
Srinagar, July 27 (UNI) Four militants were killed and a Hibul Mujahideen (HM) module, responsible for causing IED blasts, was arrested by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
A defence spokesman said troops of 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at village Woundcukpora, Ratnipora, in south Kashmir district of Pulwama this morning following a tip-off that some HM militants were hiding there.
As troops were sealing the area, militants opened fire. The fire was returned and in the fierce encounter' two HM militants Mushtaq Ahmad alias Burhan and Mohammad Shafi alias Burqan were killed. One woman Azi was also injured in the encounter.
Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
He said in another similar operation at Khanmoh in the same district, troops killed another militant. One Ak rifle and arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant identified as Gulzar Ahmad Mangoo of Hizbul Mujahideen.
Official sources said the condition of five persons, who were injured in a blast at Baramulla in north Kashmir last night, was stable.
A report from Baramulla said security forces killed one more militant at Arin Bandipora last night. With this, a total of two militants, believed to be foreigners were killed by security forces in the encounter which ensued during a search operation yesterday morning. The house of one Syed Mubarak Shah was also damaged in the encounter.
An official spokesman said polie today busted a HM module after arresting five militants, including Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai alias Major Sahib, a Pakistan Trained Militant (PTM) at Anantnag.
Mushtaq was an expert in making, planting and detonating IEDs in south Kashmir.
One pika gun, 200 rounds of ammunition, ten UBGL grenades, five detonators, one IED and 20 kg RDX were recovered from their possession.
