External property being documented in MP

Bhopal, July 27 (UNI) Documentation of purchase and sale of highly-priced property in Delhi, Haryana and some other states -- being done in Madhya Pradesh's districts was an issue highlighted in the Assembly today.

Raising the matter during question hour, Mr Satyadev Katare (Cong) said, ''2,874 cases came to light in Bhind and 1,629 in Shahdol. I have information of more than 10,000 such cases, senior officials are involved and I demand an inquiry.'' Pointing out that such documentation was possible through power of attorney, Commercial Tax Minister Babulal Gaur added that it was a constitutional right and did not cause revenue loss.

''However, a CID probe is underway in two cases regarding which complaints were lodged. The first relates to NOIDA Sector 27-resident Anandi Devi whose property was documented in Bhind and another person whose land was documented in Shahdol. A CBI investigation is not required,'' he said.

Mr Katare said Ms Devi was abroad for three months and, after returning, realised that her property was sold.

''All such cases will be examined,'' the Minister assured.
