Congress is playing Jharkhand game in Goa: Rajnath

New Delhi, July 27: The Bharatiya Janata Party today accused the Congress of 'resorting to delaying tactics' and demanded that the newly formed front 'The Goa Democratic Alliance' under former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar be immediately called by the Governor to form the Government.

The Congress-led coalition government in Goa was reduced to a minority after five legislators belonging to MGP, SGF, UGDP and Independent Salgaocar withdrew support to the Digambar Kamat Government yesterday and formed the Goa Democratic Alliance with the support of 14 BJP legislators.

Talking to newspersons, BJP President Rajnath Singh asserted that, if need be, Mr Parikkar along with the legislators, would parade before President Pratibha Patil, if there was a "deliberate delay in asking Mr Kamat to prove his majority on the floor of the House.

Governor S C Jamir had been in Delhi and was likely to fly to Goa today.

Mr Singh said the GDA had the strength of 20 MLAs in the 38-member Goa Assembly. All of them have signed the letter mentioning the formation of a new coalition with Mr Parrikar as its leader. Therefore, there should now be no delay in inviting Mr Parrikar to form the government.

He said the Congress would not be allowed to repeat the "nefarious" game, it played in Jharkhand and Bihar.

He hoped that Governor S C Jamir would maintain the dignity of the office and not allow it to be misused for political purposes.
