Central team visits Belgaum District: Rs 162.12 Cr loss due to rain

Belgaum, July 27 (UNI) An estimated Rs 162.12 Crore loss was reported in Belgaum District due to excess rain and floods since April.

This was revealed in a memorandum submitted to the Central team currently on tour of affected areas in Karnataka to study the damages caused due to excess rainfall and floods following request by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to the Prime Minister for release of addition funds from the National Calamity Fund.

The Team comprising of eight members was led by Union Home Ministry Under Secretary Pritam Lal.

In all 5261 Houses have been damaged and standing crops in 20,928 hectare were damaged besides 88 animals have died due to heavy rain.

Mr Pritam Lal held discussion with the officials in Belgaum and visited affected areas including Chikkodi and Athani.
