CBI probing Mecca Masjid blast case: Home Minister

Hyderabad, July 27 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case relating to the bomb blast in Mecca Masjid here, which claimed nine lives, Home Minister K Jana Reddy informed the Andhra Pradesh Assembly today.

In a written reply to T Devender Goud and other TDP members, the minister said a case had been registered under various sections of the IPC and Explosive Substances Act by the Hussaini Alam police.

A special investigation cell had initially investigated the case and the same was transferred to the CBI.

Five people were killed and 13 others injured in the subsequent police firing near the Charminar bus stand. The case registered under IPC sections by the Mohapura Police was under investigation, the Minister said.
