AP Assembly: Rs 33.5 lakh public money goes down drain

Hyderabad, July 27 (UNI) About 335 minutes of valuable time of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, which was adjourned sine die today, was lost during the ten-day monsoon session due to disturbances by various parties, costing the exchequer Rs 33.50 lakh.

While the House sat for over 42 hours and 40 minutes, the people's representatives of the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) obstructed the proceedings for 155 minutes, wasting public money of Rs 15.50 lakhs, according to information released by the State Legislature.

The ruling Congress wasted the House time for two minutes, resulting in a loss of Rs 20,000, it added.

While the CPI stalled the proceedings for 28 minutes, resulting in a wastage of Rs 2.80 lakhs, CPI disturbed the conduct of the House for 13 minutes, costing Rs 1.30 lakhs to the Government. The All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen stalled the proceedings for 43 minutes, costing the exchequer Rs 4.30 lakhs, it said.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party and Janata Party did not cause any loss of precious time of the House.
