Pondy: Govt drivers observe fast for promotion

Puducherry, July 25: Members of the Puducherry Government Drivers' Association, along with drivers of municipality, commune panchayats and public sector undertakings, observed a fast in front of the Chief Secretariat to press their demands here today.

They were demanding, among other things, promotion to the drivers, provision of sanitary allowance to the municipality and commune panchayat drivers and suspending the practice of hiring private vehicles in government departments and public sector undertakings.
