Two drowned as tractor trolley falls into Yamuna canal

Panipat, Jul 24 (UNI) Two people drowned and one person went missing when a tractor trolley, carrying 31 labourers, fell into Western Yamuna Canal near Panipat Refinery this morning.

While 18 labourers swam to safety, ten others, who received injuries, were rescued from the canal, official sources said. The injured were admitted to a private hospital and discharged after first aid.

The bodies of two victims were recovered while search for the missing person was still on, the sources said.

Divers have been called to search for the missing labourers.

The tractor trolley was carrying the labourers from Sithana village to the refinery where they were engaged in the Naptha Cracker Project.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda visited the site of the incident.
