Tomorrow's 'Dharam Sansad' to decide next action plan on Ram Setu

New Delhi, July 24 (UNI) The VHP will organise a collective fast ('samuhik upvas') on August 12 as part of its 'satyagraha' to stop the demolition of the 'Ram Setu' in Tamil Nadu.

The 'samuhik upvas' wuld be observed across the country in all villages and towns to awaken the government on the people's sensitivity over the planned demolition of the 'Ram Setu' which was the symbol of India's nationalism, VHP general secretary Pravin Togadia told the media today.

''The Ramsetu built by Sri Ram symbolises the faith of millions of Hindus across the country and destroying it would be trampling on the wishes of those who revere and worship God Ram.'' Demanding immediate stopping of the project, Dr Togadia said no one was against the project per se as long as it does not harm heritage and cultural symbols of national importance.

''A 'dharam sansad' would be held at Ram Lila grounds tomorrow to chalk out ways and means to protect the historically important and religiously pious Ram Setu.'' There the next action plan and the future course of action on the Ram Setu would be discussed and finalised, which would pave way for the ways and means that needed to be employed to protect the important symbol of Hindu faith, he added.
