Singapore, July 24 (UNI) Kollywood actresss-director-producer Suhasini Maniratnam is to make her theatre debut in an English-Indian play at Singapore Conference Hall on August 16, said the 200-film veteran and National Award winner here today.

Entitled 'Reading between the Lines', the play is an adaptation of 'Iru Kaditham', a play by Tamil writer Rangarajan who writes under the pseudonym Sujatha Sujatha.

The musical play, on a mother in India and her daughter away in a foreign land, is part of a week-long Indian festival 'ZAK Salaam India Expo 2007',said Ms Suhasini, who was in Singapore at the pre-launch promotion of India's largest festival week to be held from August 15-19 at the invitation of Singapore Tourism Board.

'Salaam India', starting on India's 60th National Day, will promote a wide range of Indian arts, cultures, businesses and trades at the Singapore Expo.

More than 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the inaugural 'Salaam India' being organised by the Chennai-based ZAK Trade Fares&Exhibition Pvt Ltd. Leading Indian businessmen and trade officials will also be addressing a conference on "Opportunities in India,'' ZAK chairman and managing director Syed Zakir Ahmed said.

''Some Rs 30 crores worth of exhibits, including jewelleries and consumables, would be presented at the Singapore Expo,'' he said.

The fare would also market properties and other trade services from across India, he said, adding that it would be challenging to determine the value of such assets as it would depend on transactions during the 'Salaam India' week in Singapore. ZAK is marketing the fare in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and expects to draw about 3,000 visitors from the Southeast Asianregion.
