Passengers of Guwahati-Howrah express looted
Kishanganj, July 24 (UNI) Armed robbers looted passengers of a Guwahati-bound train and decamped with cash and valuables worth over Rs 20,000 between Malda and Kanki in Katihar division of the Northeast Frontier Railways (NF), early today.
According to GRP sources, about a dozen armed robbers boarded a general compartment of the 2345 Guwahati-Howrah Saraighat Express at Malda in the early hours.
As the train crossed Barsoi Junction, the outlaws out their revolvers and looted about a dozen passengers at gunpoint. When the train was passing through Suryakamal station, they pulled the chain and alighted between Suryakamal and Kanki, some 20 km from Kishanganj, sources said.
Raids were on to arrest the criminals, sources added.
