Mysore ZP against establishment of Thermal Plant

Mysore, July 24 (UNI) The Mysore Zilla Panchayat members today protested against the State government's move to set up a 1000 MW Thermal Plant at an estimated cost of Rs 5,500 Crore at Chamalapura on H D Kote Road.

A resolution to this effect was passed here at a special meeting convened exclusively to discuss the State Government's move to setup Chamalapura Thermal Power Plant.

Members of both Congress and BJP opposed the Government proposal stating that the Plant would have adverse impact on normal life not only in villages by also in the City.

The meeting, however, witnessed heated argument at one stage between the members of Congress and Janata Dal (Secular).

However, a resolution was passed with majority of the members in favour. "The proposal should be dropped in the larger interest of the farmers and villagers." The resolution would be sent to government with detailed discussion proceedings of the meeting, ZP President Rajamma, who presided over, said.
