Lucknow, July 24 (UNI) The Mayawati government today submitted its reply to the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High court in the case pertaining to the scam in land allotment to megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Chief Standing Counsel Devendra Upadhyay presented an affidavit before Justice S N Srivastava on behlaf of the Uttar Pradesh goverment. The court adjourned the hearing till August 16.

Faizabad additional commissioner Vidhya Sagar Prasad earlier had quashed the allotment of land to the super star in Barabanki district. Later, Amitabh had filed a petition challenging the order.

On June 1, a Faizabad court had ruled that the native idol was not a farmer.

The actor had got issued documents in his name which identified him as a farmer and only on the basis of these got a 24-acre plot of agricultural land in Lonavla in Pune in the mid-1990s.

However, the Faizabad additional commissioner (administration), who has judicial powers in land disputes, had ruled that the 1993 Barabanki land transfer in Amitabh's name was illegal.

Vidya Sagar Prasad also said the DM's certificate had been obtained with forged land revenue documents.
