Junior Badal asks Haryana govt to ensure peace and amity
Chandigarh, July 24 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) working President Sukhbir Singh Badal today called upon Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to ensure peace and amity in his state.
In a statement here, Mr Badal described the Sikh-Sacha Sauda clash in Sirsa as '' unfortunate which could have been avoided''. He further said that those who hurt the religious sentiments of others through provocative acts, including imitation of Sikh Gurus '' must be dealt with severely under the law''.
The Akali Dal working president said he had full faith in the ''intent and capacity'' of the Haryana Government in general and the Chief Minister in particular. ''But clearly lawless elements appear to have been emboldened to cast disrespect to established religions, their holy beliefs and practices and this must never be allowed in a civilised society'', Mr Badal.
The Akali leader offered all moral support to the Haryana government in maintaining peace and communal harmony. He said the ''issue didn't pertain merely to the Sikh community but involved a fundamental question of blasphemous acts'', the statement added.
