Gujarat Govt plans 'Viranjali Vans' across state

Gandhinagar, July 24 (UNI) The Gujarat Government proposes to undertake an afforestation drive and create ''Viranjali Vans'' across the state which would be dedicated to martyrs of the Indian freedom struggle.

State Agriculture Minister Bhupendrasingh Chudasma told reporters here today that the state government will involve villagers in this endeavour. That apart, all state government and semi-government organisations, and also non-governmental organisations will be involved in the project.

Meanwhile, Mr Chudasma held a video conference with other Cabinet colleagues Mangubhai Patel, Kaushikbhai Patel, Anandiben Patel and Bharatbhai Barot, and district collectors on ways to make the one-day afforestation drive to be undertaken on August 9 on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the ''Quit India Movement''.
