Federation demands inquiry into transfer of school teachers
Chennai, July 24 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers Federation today appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to order a high-level inquiry into the irregularities in the ongoing counselling for transfer of school teachers.
Federation State President G Muralidharan and General Secretary N Parvatharajan told newspersons here that counselling done in an irregular method, such consellings should be cancelled and ordered afresh.
Apart from irregularities in the counselling, the actual vacant posts were not disclosed, they alleged.
The Federation leaders said due to political pressure and threats from the officials concerned, teachers participating in the counselling at Sivagangai, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Villupuram, Cuddalore and Ramanthapuram, were voicing their protest.
In some places there were scuffles between the police and the agitated teachers in which hundreds of teachers, who were taken into custody were released later.
As the teaching community was totally disappointed, they appealed to the Chief Minister to immediately intervene and render justice to them.
