Digvijay wants Subhash's Arun to contest Khargone
Bhopal, July 24 (UNI) AICC General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today suggested that Congress state President Subhash Yadav's son Arun be fielded in the coming Lok Sabha by-election in Khargone.
''It is a personal suggestion,'' he told reporters in the Assembly press room.
When asked whether this could be viewed as an attempt to rely politically on Mr Arun, Mr Singh claimed that he was perfectly capable and did not need any body's support in the political arena.
''The Congress will emerge victorious in Lok Sabha or assembly by-polls in this state and the principal reason being the public disillusionment caused by the BJP regime's erroneous policies over the past three years,'' he added.
When asked about the communal violence in the state, Mr Singh said if the government possessed firm resolve, then such a violence could be controlled instantly.
''Instead of blaming any particular community, stern action should be taken against the guilty and officials should be given a free hand,'' he said.
Taking a dig at the BJP issuing a clarion call for listening to one's conscience while voting for the just-concluded 13th presidential election, Mr Singh said the call seemed to have benefitted the Congress whose candidate bagged more votes.
''I will not enter the poll fray even if the party high command so desires,'' he added.
