Diggy wants Subhash's son Arun to contest Khargone
Bhopal, July 24 (UNI) AICC General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today suggested that Congress state President Subhash Yadav's son Arun be fielded in the Lok Sabha byelection on the cards in Khargone.
''It is a personal suggestion,'' he told reporters in the Assembly press room.
When asked whether this could be viewed as an attempt to rely politically on Mr Arun, Mr Singh shot back by claiming himself to be perfectly capable and adding that he did not need the support of anybody's shoulders in the political arena.
''The Congress will emerge victorious in Lok Sabha or assembly bypolls in this state and the principal reason for that is the public disillusionment caused by the BJP regime's erroneous policies over the past three years,'' he added.
When asked about communal violence in the state, Mr Singh said that if the government possessed firm resolve then such violence could be controlled instantly.
''Instead of blaming any particular community, stern action should be taken against all sides involved and officials should be given a free hand,'' he felt.
Taking a dig at the BJP issuing a clarion call for listening to one's conscience while voting for the just-concluded 13th presidential election, Mr Singh said that the call seemed to have influenced the Congress whose candidate bagged more votes.
''I will not enter the poll fray even if the party high command so desires,'' he reiterated.
