Delhi talks 'successful': NSCN-IM Chairman

Kohima, Jul 24: NSCN-IM Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and General Secretary Th Muivah termed talks held with Union Ministers led by Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes as successful.

The duo returned here after holding talks with the Union Ministers yesterday.

In a release issued today by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) of the NSCN-IM it was stated that on their return Mr Swu held a brief meeting with senior leaders at Council Headquarters at Hebron to announce that their "New Delhi mission" was successful.

Mr Swu had also announced that the sixth Naga Peoples' Consultative Meeting would be held at camp Hebron on July 27.

During the meeting, the outcome of the formal and informal deliberations was briefed by Mr Muivah.

He urged the Nagas to be "prepared to face any eventuality".

The release said that during the talks in Delhi, Mr Muivah had placed the Indian leaders in a very uncomfortable position by charging them with causing all sorts of obstructions towards establishing peace in Nagalim and arming the NSCN(K).

The release further said it was NSCN-IM, which requested the Central Government to show seriousness by coming to Kohima for the next round of talks.

It said that during the meet in Delhi, it was agreed in principle that no side would impose each other's constitution on the other.
