BJP MLA Rekhaben Dwivedi faces arrest in embezzlement case

Palanpur, July 24 (UNI) A former BJP MLA Rekhaben Dwivedi (Khanesha) is likely to be arrested by police for her alleged involvement in the Rs 1.34 crore embezzlement case.

Palanpur District Superintendent of Police Vipul Aggarwal told UNI here today that Ms Rekhaben has been asked by police not to leave the town without prior intimation to police because of her alleged involvement in embezzlement of various civic body contracts to the tune of Rs 1.34-Cr.

Mr Aggarwal said the Project in-charge Mahendrabhai Fadia was booked yesterday in this case after several complaints were received against him.

Earlier, three more persons, including Palanpur corporation president Ashok Bhikhaji Thakore (BJP), were arrested on July 18.

While two others arrested are Karsannhai Joshi, water works Engineer and a private contractor Alpesh Makwana of Layaka Engineering services Ahmedabad.

He said the police are investigating the case and it is likely that more persons involved in the case would be arrested soon.
