Azad, Farooq pays rich tributes to Jan, attend his funeral

Jammu, July 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah today attended the Nimaz-e-jinaza (funeral prayers) of late legislator, Ghulam Mohammad Jan at Poonch today.

Soon after his arrival at Poonch, the Chief Minister visited the house of Jan and met the bereaved family members. Mr Azad and Dr Abdullah also conveyed his heartfelt sympathies and expressed solidarity with them in their hour of grief.

Later, Mr Azad joined the funeral procession of the deceased MLA.

The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to late Jan and described him as an exceptional person who loved everybody and was loved by all.

Notwithstanding the fact that he came from a particular political party, people from all faiths and political groups would go to him for solution to their problems, he said, adding that there were very few persons whose death was mourned by one and all.

The funeral procession joined by at least one member of every household in the town was an indication of his popularity, he said.

Jan's demise was not a loss to his friends and family alone, the entire State was grieved over his death, he said and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
