85 member contingent selected for World Scout and Guide meet
Nashik, July 24 (UNI) An 85-member contingent, including 29 teachers and 56 students, has been selected for the 21st 'Jambori' (global camp) of Scout and Guides to mark the centenary of the movement, at Hyde park in London, England.
The global camp will be held from July 27 to August 8,2007. About 45,000 Scout and Guides from all over the world will gather for the meet. As many as 85 students and teachers from 18 schools in the district have been selected for the event.
The contingent was given a farewell at the district headquarter of Bharat scout and Guide here on Saturday, July 21. The adult leader team of International Service Team (IST) member left for Mumbai yesterday. It will leave for London today. The remaining members of the contingent will leave for London on July 27.
The 350 Scout and Gudies have been selected for the global meet from the state, whereas 1,200 have been selected from India.
The Scout and Guide movement had been hosted by Lord Stephenson Baden Powell in 1907 in England. The movement is celebrating its centenary this year.
State Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scout Guide B I Nagarale will lead the State contingent at the global camp. S R Rayate, Asst District commissioner will lead the 1st members and the district team whereas of Kailas Patil, of CDO Meri high school, Nashik, will lead the contingent.
