1 SOG killed, another injured in north Kashmir encounter

Baramulla, July 24 (UNI) A jawan of Special Operation Grou (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police was killed and another injured in a fierce encounter in north Kashmir today.

Official sources said security forces and SOG launched a joint operation at Nadihal in Bandipora district of North Kashmir this afternoon.

When the security forces were sealing the area, militants opened fire. The fire was returned and in the fierce encounter a SOG jawan Shahnawaz Ahmad was killed and another was wounded.

Later, reinforcement rushed to the area, they said, adding that two militants were reportedly holed up inside the house.

The operation was going on when the reports last came in.
