UP cops assaulted by MP villagers
Morena, MP, July 23 (UNI) A sub-inspector and constable have been severely injured and their AK-47 assault rifle and revolver looted by some villagers who assaulted an Uttar Pradesh Police team that was in this district's Karaula village to search for ruffians accused of abduction.
SI Susheel Kumar and Constable Devendra were admitted to Gwalior divisional headquarters' Jayarogya Hospital after last night's incident.
Police said that the team was investigating an abduction from Jalaun. Villagers became incensed when they allegedly observed a few women being taken away by the team.
''The weapons were recovered after a raid at Karaula,'' Morena's Superintendent of Police Harisingh Yadav said today.
