Two day teachers, govt employees strike called off
Mumbai, July 23 (UNI) The two-day strike called by the teaching and non-teaching staff, government and semi-government employees beginning tommorrow has been called off following intervention of Chief MInister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Mr Deshmukh agreed that the demand of 28 months D A arrears were just and the delay had occurred due to the spate of natural calamities causing burden onto the State exchequer. However, he said, the D A from July 1 2007 would be sanctioned.
He said he would present the proposal of promoting government and semi-government staff after 24 years of service on lines of the Central government, a release here said.
