New Delhi, July 23 (UNI) Concerned over the slow speed of checking of Bluelines buses during the state Government's drive, Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf ordered the officials concerned to speed up the process.

Talking to reporters after a surprise visit to the vehicle fitness checking centre at Burari, Mr Yousuf reiterated his government's resolve to enforcing the traffic rules and subjecting the Bluelines to intensive checking. He said that the state government would not tolerate indiscipline.

''The TSR and blueline bus operators will have to follow traffic rules and regulation, maintain speed and cleanliness in the buses and observe self discipline,''he said.

The Transport Minister further informed that the Government has taken strong steps against faulty TSR/Auto and a special enforcement drive is already going on, wherein 1516 TSRs have been impounded from June 8 to July 23. He also informed that 1032 TSR have been checked and 350 challans issued against 200 TSR and 10 TSR impounded today itself.

He informed that 345 Blueline buses were scanned by 1700 hours today, of which 196 have been declared fit.

All the buses have been approved in 10 DTC Depots and Burari Fitness Centre. He said that joint enforcement drive of the Delhi Police and Transport department would continue till the transport system was streamlined in the city.

Mr Yousuf said DTC carried 35 lakh people on Sunday, which was around 10.40 lakh more as compared to last Sunday, when 25 lakh passengers were carried by the corporation buses.
