Tremors rock Uttarakhand

Dehra Dun, July 23: Uttarakhand was jolted by an earthquake early this morning.

However, no loss of lives and properties had been reported, the State Disaster Management and Miitigation Centre said.

According to the DMMC, the earthquake hit the state at around 0432 hrs. The epicentre of the earthquake was 31.2 degrees north and 78.3 degrees east at Gomukh in Uttarkashi district. The intensity was recorded at 5 on the Richter scale.

The tremors continued for about 20 to 25 seconds. Mild tremors were also experienced at several places, including Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Mussoorie, Nainital and Dehra Dun.
