Three commit suicide by jumping from UP's 'killer towers'

Lucknow, July 23 (UNI) The Old Councillor Building (OCR) in the heart of the Uttar Pradesh capital today hogged the limelight when three persons committed suicide in two separate incidents.

Police said a woman, in her mid forties jumped from the sixth floor of the A block building around 1030 hrs. While the police were groppling to ascertain her identity, a couple committed suicide by jumping from another floors of the same building around 1400 hrs.

The couple were holding each other's hands when their bodies were found by people.

So far, the identity of neither of the victims could be asartained.

The OCR building is a residence of politicians of various hues, MLAs, MLCs and journalists.

The building had been in limelight for various suicides committed by jilted lovers, dejected spouces, failed students and unemployed youth by jumping from the top floors.

There had been allegations at least on two occasions that women were pushed down after being raped.
