Tamil Nadu Minister visits NDDB for Dairy Development
Anand, July 23 (UNI) Minister of Milk and Dairy Development of Tamil Nadu Mathivanan today held discussions with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Dr Amrita Patel on the National Dairy Plan and areas, in which NDDB could support the dairy sector in Tamil Nadu.
The TN minister said Tamil Nadu would like to obtain technical and financial support from NDDB in the areas of productivity enhancement, milk processing and marketing.
The minister was presented with an overview of the initiatives being taken by NDDB to provide technical and financial assistance for dairy development in different parts of the country. He was also explained about the innovations facilitated by NDDB in product and process development, and its ongoing research projects in breeding and nutrition.
Mr Mathivanan said he would invite NDDB Chairman Dr Patel to visit Chennai in near future, for a meeting with Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
Mr Mathivanan, who visited Anand was accompanied by Leena Nair, Secretary, AHD and Fisheries and Apurva Verma, Milk Commissioner and MD, Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation.
The team visited various institutions in and around Anand including Institute of Rural Management (IRMA), a village dairy cooperative society and the Semen Production Station at Sabarmati Ashram Gaushala, Bidaj.
