Rahul's mantra for development: Education for women

Amethi, July 23 (UNI) Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi today propogated education for women for the overall development of the country.

Addressing a gathering here, Mr Gandhi said it was a result of education for women that country was making strides in development.

He said more efforts were required on this front.

The Amethi MP also distributed scholarship cheques to 15 girls of the constituency who had excelled in education. The programme was organised by a foundation.

He said the Amethi parliamentary constituency will soon emerge into a centre of educational excellence. He said contrary to perception, the people of Amethi have shown that they give priority to higher education.

Mr Gandhi is on a four-day visit of his parliamentary constituency. The tour is Rahul's first after the just-held Assembly elections.

During his tour, Mr Gandhi would address several worker meets.

Besides carrying out inspections of the various developmental projects in the constituency, the MP will also address Congress workers at block level.

He would also distribute job cards to villagers under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

On the last day of his tour on July 27, Mr Gandhi will address a district-level meeting of vigilance committee which inspects the various developmental works in his constituency.
