K'taka: Miscreants ransack pvt channel office
Mangalore, July 23: Miscreants allegedly attacked a private TV Channel office here last night and ransacked the office computers, camera and furniture following alleged exposure of blue film racket in the city in its programme 'Warrant' recently.
Reporter Rajesh Shetty, who tried to prevent the miscreant from entering the office, was attacked by the culprits. He sustained minor injuries.
Senior police officials including Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar visited the office.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Minister for Fisheries B Nagaraja Shetty, who is also District in-charge Minister visited the office and condemned the attack on the media.
The Mangalore Editor's club and Daxina Kannada Working Journalist's Union condemning the attack have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and no scope should be given in future to suppress the freedom of press.
The members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) had planned a protest meeting against the attack on press today at Hampankatta, while, a protest rally was planned by members from various political parties and other organizations at noon in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
