Miscreants attack TV channel
Mangalore, July 23 (UNI) Miscreants allegedly attacked a private TV Channel office here last night and ransacked the office computers, camera and furniture following an alleged recent exposure of a porngraphic racket in the city in its programme 'Warrant'.
Reporter Rajesh Shetty, who tried to prevent the miscreants from entering the office, was also attacked by them. He sustained minor injuries.
Senior police officials, including Superintendent of Police, Satish Kumar had visited the office.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Minister for Fisheries B Nagaraja Shetty, who is also the District in-charge Minister, visited the office and condemned the attack on media.
The Mangalore Editors' Club and Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists' Union while condemning the attack had demanded immediate arrests of the culprits. No scope should be given in future to suppress the freedom of press, they added.
The members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) had planned a protest meeting against the attack on press today at Hampankatta, while a protest rally had also been planned by members of various political parties and other organisations at noon in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
