Hundreds of party activists from both parties, led by CPI(M) Kkrishna District Secretary V Uma Maheswara Rao and CPI City Secretary Palla Surya Rao, took out a rally from Lenin Centre to Sub-Collectors office before commencing the hunger strike.

Similar hunger strikes were also launched by the left parties in all the major towns in the district.
