Lawyers protest hamper court work

Bangaon, July 23 (UNI) Lawyers of Sub-divisional courts in North 24 Parganas observed cease work today protesting the demolition of a shelter by the court authorities.

The shelter used to serve as camp office for the lawyers.

Lawyers' Association of Bangaon secretary Samir Das claimed the shelter was installed with the permission from the District Judge.

Bangaon Bar Association and the Lawyers' Association condemned the act of the court authorities and went on a day's cease work.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Asha Aurora said the shelter had to be dismantled for removal of an unauthorised canteen there.

The cease work hampered proceedings to at least eight courts in the sub division.
