Kidwai calls for promoting pharma industry

Chandigarh, July 23 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai stressed the need for promotion of the pharmaceutical industry in the country as it has adequate research and development facility.

Delivering the presidential remarks after inaugurating the new academic session of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at Mohali today the Governor said that due to solid foundation and technical and scienctific education, the country had the largest scientific and technical manpower in the world.

He remarked that the students who had got admission in NIPER had a great future as this institution had made a mark in the field of education by imparting quality education.

The Governor said that there was a need for collaboration between different systems of medicines for providing relief to the human beings. He urged the need to develop other areas like nano technology, bio-information and stem cell for eradicating many contagious diseases from this world.

Earlier, Prof R R Chaudhry, Chairman, Apollo Task Force for Research, New Delhi delivered a lecture on clinical evaluation of traditional medicines. Prof P Rama Rao, Director, NIPER and Prof K K Bhutani, Dean of NIPER also spoke on the occasion.
