Karnataka Legislative Council complets century

Bangalore, July 23: Karnataka Legislative Council will complete 100 years of its existence tomorrow.

Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi will deliver a congratulatory speech on the occasion, Chairman of the House Prof B K Chandrashekhar said here today.

Making an announcement in the House, Prof Chandrashekhar said to mark the historic event a grand ceremony would be conducted on August three, and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be expected to participate in the celebrations. Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and his Deputy B S Yediyurappa would also be present on the occasion, he said.

Opposition leader in the House H K Patil of Congress, while welcoming the Governor's presence on the historic occasion appealed to the Chair to invite all the legislators and facilitate them to witness the event.

Prof. Chandrashekhar said besides dignitaries, Editors of both print and Electronic media would also be invited to be present on the occasion.
