Govt contemplating to give more powers to ZP
Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, July 23 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government is contemplating to devolve more powers to Zilla Parishad (ZP) Chairmen, in addition to the recent staff transfer power, Panchayatraj Minister J C Diwakar Reddy has said.
Addressing a function to mark the first anniversary celebrations of Krishna Zilla Parishad here late last night, he said the issue of giving financial powers to the Mandal Parishad Presidents (MPP) was under consideration. He ruled out provision of providing financial powers to the village sarpanches as most of the elected sarpanches were uneducated. Therefore, Secretaries were misusing funds in the name of sarpanches, he claimed.
ZP Chairman K Nageswara Rao said Krishna district had received ISO-9001 certificate, the first ZP in the country to achieve it.
