Gastro claims 5 in MP

Chhindwara, MP, July 23 (UNI) Five people, including three women, died over the past three days while 45 were suffering from gastroenteritis after consuming polluted water in this district's virtually inaccessible Harrai block.

''The deceased at Unchekheda village were Champobai, Kineebai, Sukarti, Kisan and Paldu,'' said Chief Medical Officer J S Gojiya.

The administration announced ex gratia of Rs 2,000 each.

At the nearby Kanheri village, 45 afflictd similarly people were hospitalised. Teams of doctors' teams were sent to the affected villages.
