Four smugglers arrested, charas and timber seized in Kashmir

Srinagar July 23 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested four smugglers and seized one kg of charas, illegal timber and Corex syrup in the Kashmir valley overnight.

A police spokesman said Station House Officer (SHO) of police station Kunzar Abdul Rashid Yatoo police station in Baramulla district received an information that Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama Kaloo was supplying charas to customers.

He said SHO raided the house of the smuggler in presence of an Executive Magistrate and recovered one kg of charas besides Rs 50,000 cash.

The accused has been arrested and a case FIR No 63/07, under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered in police station Kunzar in this regard, he added.

He said Sumbai police seized 10 bottles of Corex syrup from a shop owner at Naidkhai. The shopkeeper, youself bhat was supplying it without proper prescription to the youth of area, for the purpose of intoxication. He has been arrested too.

Police also arrested a youth, who was carrying four bottles of Corex syrup and tablet at Lal Chowk near here during a normal frisking.

Spokesman said, acting on specific information, Sumbal police conducted a raid in Nowgam area and arrested one Khursheed Ahmed Wani after recovering illicit timber.
