Extra vigilance to nab Thokia gang

Bhopal, July 23 (UNI) Extra vigilance is being exercised in Madhya Pradesh's Satna and Panna districts adjoining Uttar Pradesh with the objective of arresting bandit chieftain Ambika Patel alias Thokia's gang even as both states' police are in constant touch.

''Eight SAF companies are stationed in the districts,'' a senior Madhya Pradesh Police officer said here. Check posts are operational on interstate roads. Police said that Thokia is believed to be hiding in Uttar Pradesh.

A UNI report from Satna said that the interstate border's forested and rural areas were being watched so that the gang members would not be able to cross over into Madhya Pradesh. DIG (Rewa Range) K L Meena is camping since yesterday in Satna district's Barondha Police Station limits.

On several earlier occasions, reports said that the gang forayed into Sagar division's Panna district. Extra vigilance is also being maintained in Rewa and Chhatarpur.
