CM asked to make statement on Singur land acquisition before court
Kolkata, Jul 23 (UNI) Noted lawyer Siddhartha Sankar Roy today argued before Calcutta High Court pleading for a direction asking the Chief Minister and the Industry Minister to appear before the court and make a true statement on Singur land acquisition.
Mr Roy, appearing for petitioner Jaideep Mukherjee, said the state government had acquired 997.11 acres of land for the the people. But the land was being given to private entrepreneurs, he said.
Mr Roy also submitted before the division bench presided by Chief Justice S S Nijjar that the land was acquired wrongfully and the State Government should tell the court the reason behind the acquisition of land.
He will continue his submission before the bench tomorrow.
